The smooth harmonies of the Oratorio Choir echoed throughout Swift Current on Monday night at their Spring concert.

Due to several circumstances, the group has not been able to put on a concert since Christmas time.

Marcia McLean, Choral Director of the Swift Current Oratorio Choir, said that the event was a resounding success.

“It was pretty packed,” she said. “We had probably over 120 people there, so it was very well received.”

McLean added that it was a fantastic feeling to be able to return to some sense of normalcy.

“We haven't had a concert since Christmas and because of COVID and our vaccination rules, membership is down, and this is kind of like an opening up, right,” she said. “So, we sang without masks largely and mostly the audience was without masks and feeling comfortable.”

The evening doubled as a fundraiser for Ukraine relief efforts, featuring ‘A Ukrainian Prayer’ as the final performance of the night.

The members of the choir each donned a pin of Ukraine’s flag for the performance as well.

It total, the concert raised just over $1,000 for Ukraine relief efforts.
