The Saskatchewan Oil and Gas Show is just under a month away.

After last year’s edition of the biennial show was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, preparations are ramping up for this year’s edition. Over two hundred exhibitors have already signed up for this year, but Monica Osborn with the show said there is room for a few more.

“We’re at about 75 percent of booths sold, so that’s good, and we foresee that there’s going to be some more coming in in the next couple of weeks here,” Osborn told Discover Weyburn.

In addition to all of the exhibitors, the show is also expected to attract thousands of visitors. For those who are taking in the show, there will be a slight change from previous editions.

“We are asking people to pre-register,” Osborn said. “This year we are having a small fee of $10 admission for people that are wanting to attend the show.”

With so many people coming to the show, there is still a need for volunteers. Osborn said they particularly need the volunteers to help out in the registration area.

“So, if you are looking at doing some volunteer time, we just ask that you call us at (306) 842-3232, or you can email sk.oilshow@sasktel.net.”

There are three speakers scheduled for this year’s event.

On the opening day, Rafi Tahmazian will be speaking at 2:00 p.m. He is a partner with Canoe Financial, with years of experience working with the oil and gas sector.

The entertainment in the evening, after the Saskatchewan and Southeast Oilman of the Year awards, will be social media icon Quick Dick McDick.

The third speaker of the event will be on the second day, in the afternoon, as noted columnist Rex Murphy will be a guest speaker for the second show in a row.

The Saskatchewan Oil & Gas Show kicks off June 1st and runs until June 2nd.
