A traveling education expo and speaker series from the University of Regina will be heading to Swift Current on May 17th.
President of the University, Jeff Keshen provides some details on the purpose behind the tour that will be stopping in 5 cities.
"Really bring out our programs, our students, our faculty, give a lecture in the evening to make sure that the young people and their parents who are looking at the University of Regina will see it as a dynamic and friendly place that's really anxious to have their students study at our institution."
Keshen adds that the program has outreached to places across the province and the only way to do that is to get out and meet folks and raise awareness on a personal level.
A press release regarding the event from the University of Regina says "Through a variety of classroom and after-school activities, along with an on-site information expo, students will learn all about our dynamic academic and athletic programs, cutting-edge research, and what campus life has to offer at the U of R."
Included in each city stop will be a free evening speaker series that will be open to the public. Keshen says that social media will be a topic of discussion.
"We will be connecting it to one of our experts at the University of Regina as well so in making the selection of the topic we really want things to show that we research and engage in areas that have currency and relevance to people in their daily lives."
Keshen says that he knows social media has been at the forefront of people's thoughts, concerns, and actions.
The speaker series will feature an expert in social media along with various University of Regina faculty.
Along with Swift Current, the UR Days event will be stopping in Weyburn, Yorkton, Regina, and Prince Albert throughout this month.
The Swift Current stop will be taking place on May 17th at the Social Hall in the Innovation Credit Union I-plex.
