The off-broadway play based on the original Star Wars trilogy is coming to the Shell Theatre on Saturday (May 14).
Growing up on a farm, Charles Ross had no television stations; but he did have a copy of Star Wars on videocassette. As his go-to childhood film, Ross sympathised with the journey of Luke Skywalker, going from farm boy to jedi knight.
As he got older, Ross found himself with a passion for theatre. Looking for a way to get himself into the theatrical scene, Ross merged his performance with passion by creating One Man Star Wars Trilogy, a play that premiered at the Toronto Fringe Festival in 2001.
The play runs for 75 minutes and features Ross playing all characters - human, alien, and droids alike. His impressions have been described as spot-on, particularly that of the adorably iconic droid R2D2. Lucasfilms themselves have even approved his show.
One Man Star Wars Trilogy has been touring for the last twenty years, with performances being shown on Late Night with Conan O'Brien and at San Diego's Comic-Con. He even performed the play in front of Vin Diesel on the set of The Chronicles of Riddick.
Ross will be performing at the Shell Theatre on May 14th at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here.
