Two Sherwood Park Crusader alumni are competing on the international level.
Matt Tomkins and Nick Holden were picked to join Team Canada at the 2022 IIHF World Championships in Finland. Holden currently plays for the Ottawa Senators and Tomkins plays for the Frölunda HC in Sweden. He was also on Team Canada at the 2022 Olympics.
There were 24 players chosen in total. Holden will be playing defense and Tomkins is one of three goalies on the team.
Since 1931, Canada has won the world championship 27 times.
Team Canada will open the tournament against Germany on Friday (May 13) at 10:20 a.m.
