The City of Grande Prairie is constructing the final two baseball diamonds at the South Bear Creek Park Baseball Diamond Complex.
The park is enjoyed by over 3,000 people in recreational and competitive leagues of all ages, making it a valuable amenity in the community for recreation and sports development. It is also used to host local, provincial, western and national events promoting sports tourism and boosting the local economy.
Construction began in South Bear Creek Park in early May and is anticipated to be complete in late July.
Trail access may be impacted throughout construction and detours will be provided for pedestrians.
The project is made possible through the federal Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP) which granted the City $800,000 for the completion of this project. The goal of the ICIP program is to create long-term infrastructure investments that will help establish more inclusive communities.
