For those looking for a hot long weekend, you won't find it in Fort Saskatchewan.

Rain is expected in Fort, with Thursday (May 19) showing a mild chance of thunderstorms. Even though the rain should be gone by Friday, the cool wind from the north still makes for a chillier than usual weekend.

With a high of 9 C for Friday, the air is expected to drop to sub zero temperatures for Saturday morning.

As Saturday rolls on, it should warm up to 15 C, with Sunday looking about the same. Monday will be the warmest day of the weekend with a high of 19 C.

"At this time of year we typically see a daytime high of 19 C and a night time low of 5 C," said Kyle Fougere, meteorologist with Environment Canada. "So it's slightly below normal for this time of year."

It would be a good idea this weekend to bundle up outdoor plants and to consider the weather if camping or travelling through the bush.
