With the long weekend approaching the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is reminding all travelers crossing the border of what they can expect this weekend and coming up during summer travel.
With evolving COVID-19 requirements there can be delays during peak periods, travellers can help reduce wait times by coming prepared and completing their mandatory ArriveCAN submission within 72 hours before arriving at the border.
Travelers should ensure they have the most up-to-date ArriveCAN app and should print or take a screenshot of their ArriveCAN receipt and bring it with them when they travel.
Some key tips for travelers from the CBSA include ensuring you are eligible to enter Canada, understanding the rules around COVID-19, having all documents ready and planning ahead, and checking border wait times.
According to the CBSA they have also established modern processes to improve traveler experience and manage volumes such as the International-to-Domestic and the International-to-International programs that significantly decrease connection times.
The CBSA also reminds residents that they can bring back tax and duty-free goods valued at CAN$200 after being away for 24 hours, and goods valued at CAN$800 after 48 hours. Residents must also declare any foods, plants, or animals as well as all money or currency of CAN$10,000 or more.
