Strathcona County has many events planned to celebrate pride month.

In coordination with the AltView Foundation, Strathcona County has released a list of activities for everyone to enjoy in June.

Here are some of the events coming up:

  • June 11 - Pride flag raising at Volunteer Plaza in Sherwood Park at 11 a.m. 
  • Rainbow reading for families. A story about pride/LGBTQ2S+ characters and experiences. Location TBD, this will take place at 12 p.m.
  • June 12 - An inclusive service at Sherwood Park United Church. This begins at 9:45 a.m.
  • A drag brunch at 800 Broadmoor Blvd #100 in Sherwood Park. Tickets are $45, and you can call 780 570 2900 to book your spot. The doors open at 10 a.m., and the show begins at 11 a.m.
  • June 13 - In-person breakout space for queer women. This is an opportunity for queer women to mingle and share experiences. 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. Location TBD.
  • June 14 -  In-person breakout space for queer men. This is an opportunity for queer men to mingle and share experiences. 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. Location TBD.
  • June 15 - In-person breakout space to talk about transgender documents. This seminar is a chance for transgender individuals and family members to mingle and share experiences. 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. Location TBD.
  • An inclusive parenting event focusing on how to support your child's identity better. Time and location TBD.
  • June 16 - In-person breakout space for queer families. This is an opportunity for queer families to mingle and share experiences 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. Location TBD.
  • Rainbow reading for families. A story about pride/LGBTQ2S+ characters and experiences. Location and time TBD.
  • June 17 - In-person breakout space for the LGBTQ2S+ community. This is an opportunity for any community members to mingle and share experiences. 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. Location TBD.
  • June 18 - A public panel on transgender experiences. Location and time TBD.

"Strathcona County is proud to celebrate diversity, including the important voices of 2SLGBTQ+ community," said mayor Rod Frank.
