The Moose Jaw Miller Express have now won five games in a row after a thrilling 8-4 extra innings victory over the Red Sox on Monday night in Regina.
The Red Sox’s Cade Nelson got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI double. The game would remain scoreless until Austin Gurney hit a lead-off home run in the top of the seventh inning to tie it up 1-1.
No one could break the tie after nine innings, forcing extra innings. That's when the bats came alive.
The Miller Express would score a total of seven runs in the top of the 10th, including a grand slam home run from Nate Mensik.
Tim Carlson got the start on the mound and went six innings, giving up four hits, one run and struck out one. Hometown pitcher Cam O’Reilly picked up the win. He pitched one and two-thirds of an inning, allowing three hits, and three runs and struck out one.
The Millers will return to Currie Field in Regina on Wednesday to again face the Red Sox.
