Water levels in the North Saskatchewan River have returned to normal after low levels prompted a warning.

On Jun. 2, Edmonton Fire Rescue Service, Edmonton Police, city park rangers and the RCMP issued a warning asking boaters to stay off the North Saskatchewan River. At the time, the river flow was about half of what it should be, hovering around 50 m³/s.

River levels began to climb again on Sunday (Jun. 5), and as of Thursday (Jun. 9) morning, the river flow was at 115.61 m³/s.

No warning was issued for Fort Saskatchewan; however, officials from the city confirmed they were aligned with the messaging from the capital city.

The city has not seen an increase in boater incidents or injuries this year.
