A man in possession of a stolen truck almost hit an RCMP officer.
On May 19, Redwater RCMP got word from a neighbouring detachment that a stolen truck was spotted driving down Highway 28 near Radway.
Once the truck was located, officers pulled the suspect over and attempted to make an arrest. During this time, the driver sped off, nearly hitting the officer on scene.
A short distance later, the suspect abandoned the truck and fled on foot into a wooded area.
Officers from the Redwater RCMP, Redwater Traffic, Smoky Lake RCMP, the Eastern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, and an officer from ‘K’ Division Police Dog Services searched the area for the male suspect, who was then located and arrested.
An investigation determined that the driver of the stolen truck was in possession of a knife and brass knuckles.
Mark Tremblay, 32, of Conklin, Alberta, is charged with:
- Two counts of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose

- Four counts of failing to comply with a probation order
- Possession of a controlled drug/substance (Methamphetamine)

- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
In addition to these charges, Trembley had a Canada-wide arrest warrant for parole violation and being unlawfully at large.
