The Town of Ste. Anne will have a new mayor after the October elections.
Richard Pelletier has announced that his name will not be on the ballot for the role of mayor, a position he has held for eight years.
"I did two terms in Ste. Anne, we did very well. I enjoyed this,” he says.
But Pelletier is not ready to leave municipal politics. He is throwing his hat in the ring for a seat on council for the Rural Municipality of Ste. Anne.
“Since I live in the R.M. of Ste. Anne, I have the privilege of now going forward and run as Reeve in the Rural Municipality of Ste. Anne,” Pelletier says.
Pelletier says he is proud of the growth that is happening for the Town of Ste. Anne and he is confident that the town is set up for continued success.
“We have a young team and I think now that it's all established and so on to keep going forward, the vision for all of them is really to make the town the best town in Manitoba,” says Pelletier. “And so, I'm just going to let that go and hopefully work with them as a municipality to make that impact even more significant.”
Pelletier says he would like to bring his passion, knowledge and enthusiasm to the R.M. of Ste. Anne with a focus on attracting more young families to the rural area.
He indicates that there is so much potential for having the municipality and town become strong partners on some big projects that would not only attract more people to the area, but it would also help residents and businesses be successful.
Municipal elections will take place on October 26, 2022.
