Rain is in the forecast every day this week.

Significant rainfall is expected this week in Fort Saskatchewan and the immediate area.

The experts for calling for upwards of 50 millimeters total.

About 30 millimeters of rain is forecasted to fall over the next few days according to Terri Lang, a meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada. 

“Looks like there may be some thunder showers for Friday,” added Lang “Maybe another 10 to 20 millimeters [to come] out of that.”

The record rainfall in Fort Saskatchewan for the month of June was  216.7 millimeters in 1914 

Lang shared some tips to be prepared for heavy rain.

“Keep your eavestroughs clear, make sure your downspouts [are] pointed away from your house and towards the street and make sure the storm drain on the street is clear as well.”

At this time the Government of Alberta has also put out a high streamflow advisory for the North Saskatchewan River.
