A man is facing a long list of charges after getting busted with stolen guns and leading police on a short chase.

On June 7, Boyle RCMP received a complaint about a man carrying a gun -- police say he fired a shot at a closed gas station before taking off.

Shortly after, the Redwater RCMP saw a vehicle matching the description and tried to pull it over. The vehicle then sped off leading RCMP on a pursuit.

During the chase, Sonny Giant's vehicle ran out of gas or encountered a mechanical issue, allowing police to arrest him without any incident.

RCMP have charged Giant, 40, with multiple gun charges, possession of stolen property, flight from police, failing to comply with release conditions and failing to comply with weapon prohibition orders. In total, there were 50 charges.

Mounties added the vehicle had been stolen earlier that evening in Thorhild County and had three loaded guns and five unloaded guns inside.

These weapons were determined to have come from a residential break and enter that happened the day before (June 6) near Smoky Lake.
