Clive Morgan

Clive Morgan, 84, of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, finished his journey in this world shortly before midnight on June 11, 2022. His devoted wife, Agnes, and adoring daughters, Shaunna and Sherri, were all by his side to comfort him as he took his final breaths and plunged into eternal rest.

Born in Toronto, Ontario (1937), Clive’s earliest years were in an unauthorized orphanage. This was followed by a period of time spent bouncing through a sequence of foster homes until he gained his independence at 16. Clive’s greatest strengths, his resilience, kindness and ability to forgive, allowed him to overcome this exceptionally difficult start.

Clive moved to St. Catherines, Ontario, in his late teens. He found comfort in the church and through an act of great kindness found safe harbour. Gwen and Albert Begy, with their son, Brian, afforded Clive a sense of family for the first time.

In 1958, Clive relocated to Moose Factory, Ontario where he met the love of his life, Agnes Diamond. The couple wed in the summer of 1959 at a small church service attended by family and friends. They began a long and rewarding life together eventually settling in Portage la Prairie in 1964 where they raised a family and, most importantly to Clive, adopted a son, as he had always hoped for himself.

Clive gave 25 years of service as a tradesman at the Manitoba Developmental Centre. He was a devoted friend and neighbour, who would always lend a helping hand. The church remained a central tenant in his life and he was a St. Mary’s Anglican Church member serving in many roles over his 58-year tenure. He was also very active in his community lending his support to scouting, hockey, skating, and various citizen groups.

Family, living and deceased, include; wife Agnes Morgan, son David Morgan (Alexandra Cassiani) and his stepsons Olivier Brunel & Édouard Brunel, daughter Shaunna Morgan (Don Siegers) grandson James Siegers, daughter Sherri Morgan who has two children from a previous marriage with Joseph Barrault, granddaughter Alexis Clare (Mike Clare) great-grandson Carter & grandson Kohl Barrault, granddaughter Embree Ferguson (her dad Sandy Ferguson), son former Chief George Morgan (Dr. Tanis Secerbegovic) grandsons Wyatt, Kellen & granddaughter Ava, nephew who was like a son, Paul John Murdoch (Gina St. Pierre) and his son from a previous marriage, Max Murdoch, family members from Waskaganish Cree Nation, Quebec including; Agnes’ parents, sisters, brothers and their families; former Chief Malcolm (late) & Hilda Diamond (late); Annie (late) & Jimmy (late) Whiskeychan,Charlie & Mary Diamond, Gerti (late) Murdoch, Grand Chief Dr. Billy (late) & Elizabeth Diamond, Albert (late) & Janie Diamond, George & Frances Diamond, Stanley Diamond & Doris Chalifoux, along with Clive’s recently DNA-discovered Mitchell-Cummins family originating from Waterdown, ON.
