It's all about celebrating yourself and being who you want to be as the city has proclaimed this week to be Swift Current Pride Week.
Events are scheduled throughout the week and Dawn Caswell, a member of Southwest Saskatchewan Pride provides details on the queer prom held on Tuesday.
``Each year we host a prom for essentially, those people that identify as some area of the LGBTQ community to go with the partner they wanted to go with, to wear the clothes they wanted to go with. Just to be their authentic selves.
Already this week, they have held a flag-raising ceremony along with the queer prom on Tuesday and queer trivia on Wednesday night.
Caswell also provides some insight into the fun-filled events still to come this week.
``Thursday we`ve got bowling, we have rented the bowling alley for a couple of hours on Thursday from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm and anybody can come and bowl. We filled it last year so I am hoping we fill it again this year. Friday is our grand opening at the drop-in center.
Festivities at the grand opening will include a ribbon-cutting along with a tie-dye extravaganza event, drag performers and a presentation by the SCCHSGSA entitled "Queer 101"
More details on the week's events can be found on the Southwest Saskatchewan Pride Facebook page.
