The City of Fort Saskatchewan currently has no plans to bring electric scooters to the area.
"E-scooters are not something that has come up at the City of Fort Saskatchewan to date. I certainly, as a councillor, haven't received any requests from residents," said city councillor Lisa Makin.
Communities similar in size, such as Okotoks, have begun to introduce public use of electronic scooters in their community. E-scooters run in Okotoks from March to October and are provided by Bird Canada.
"If it's something that economic development thought was a good idea for our city, it could come to city council that way, but otherwise initiatives such as this are often municipality [and] residential driven."
Residents can bring forward ideas to city council through the City of Fort Saskatchewan website.
