The official cause of a residential fire from earlier this week has yet to be determined.

On Monday (July 25) at 1:31 a.m., the Fort Saskatchewan Fire Department (FSFD) and Strathcona County Emergency Services responded to a call from a resident claiming they smelt smoke in their house.

“Once on scene there was nothing really noted from the outside, but once inside crews were able to identify smoke in the building,” explained assistant fire chief Jeff Fox. “They were able to quickly locate the source of the fire and extinguish the fire with minimal damage.”

The fire occurred in the ceiling of the second floor of the house.

“They were able to target where they were going, found the problem area and then dealt with it.”

All residents in the home at the time of the fire escaped safely.

An investigator with the FSFD was present at the time of the call -- the investigation is ongoing.
