The Fort Saskatchewan Public Library has welcomed a new executive director.
Tricia Wall, originally from the Cypress Hills area of Elkwater, Alberta, began her role at the library on May 10.
She looks after the library for the Fort Saskatchewan Library Board, creates and monitors a budget and supervises and hires staff.
“I had a job that I absolutely loved, and this job became available. The only reason I left is because it was this job,” said Wall.
Before working in Fort Saskatchewan, Wall was at the Strathcona County Library for 15 years. There, she was a child and adult programmer and a digital literacy team leader.
“In the time that I’ve lived in the area, I have always loved Fort Saskatchewan. It’s a beautiful little city. It’s the perfect size of city, and I felt like I could contribute.”
Wall shared that the library is currently doing a community feedback survey.
“I can’t wait to learn what the community is looking for in their library. Especially non-members, I want to know why you’re not coming to the library.”
In her off time, Wall enjoys spending time with her husband and two dogs at their home in Edmonton. She enjoys reading and racing her five motorcycles.
She owns a dirt bike, ice bike, street bike and an electric bike.
“In my motorcycle world, people are like you’re way too loud to be a librarian.”
Currently, the Fort Saskatchewan Public Library is running all of its summer programming. In September, a new art project will be announced for library members.
