The Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital will temporarily close their labour and delivery unit.
Starting tomorrow (Aug 6), the hospital will consolidate obstetrical services at the Sturgeon Community Hospital in St. Albert.
According to Alberta Health Services (AHS), the decision to temporarily close the unit in Fort Saskatchewan is due to the lack of obstetrical coverage.
“Pregnant patients who planned on delivering at Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital will need to adjust their birth plan to deliver at the Sturgeon Community Hospital,” AHS said in a statement.
Women’s health services are expected to resume in Fort Saskatchewan on Aug. 21.
