BGC Fort Saskatchewan and BGC Strathcona County have signed a new management agreement.

Some changes are being made at the local BGC clubs.

On July 1, BGC Fort Saskatchewan and BGC Strathcona County signed a new management agreement that would see the Strathcona County club assume responsibility for club operations in Fort Saskatchewan.

The recent agreement is essentially an extension of one signed between the two clubs back in December 2021, according to BGC Fort Saskatchewan board chair Karen Sliwkanich.

"They're providing us with some senior staff support for our club to make sure all our programs continue operating in the way that they have for the past 35 years," she explained.

The changes are being made in an effort to cut costs and as a chance to explore steps towards a possible, more formal unification. Sliwkanich said that BGC families shouldn't notice a difference at the two clubs and that programming will continue to operate as usual.

"Programmes we've offered all this time should continue as long as there's still interest and a need for those programmes."

Anyone with questions regarding the new management agreement can contact board chair Karen Sliwkanich at ksliwkanich@shaw.ca or Shannon (board chair at BGC Strathcona County) at leta.shannon@gov.ab.ca.
