The Robin Hood Association has received the Half Grand Helping Hand prize from MIX 107.9 and South Fort Chevrolet.

Formed in 1963, The Robin Hood Association helps individuals with developmental disabilities. They are a non-profit, charitable organization that serves Sherwood Park, Fort Saskatchewan, and surrounding areas.

“We serve families that have children and adults that have disabilities here in Fort Saskatchewan,” said Ann Marie Lepan, the CEO of the Robin Hood Association.

Currently, the association is working with around 700 people of all ages and with different needs.

Lepan added that the funds would be going towards maintenance challenges that the association is facing such as new flooring in their facilities.

“COVID really delayed some of those projects. We couldn’t get into homes and facilities so we have got quite a list of things needing to be repaired.”

The Robin Hood Association plan to move into the Muriel Ross Abdurahman Court when it opens. They have multiple units designated for people to live independently or with care.

“It’s always a fantastic feeling when the community provides support. However small or big it is I think it just keeps speaking to our organization and awareness of the supports that people do need.”

If you would like to donate to The Robin Hood Association you can do so here or walk into any location.

You can nominate a community group, organization, or sports team to win next month by entering them into the Half Grand Helping Hand.
