The IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship began on Tuesday (Aug. 9) at Rogers Place in Edmonton.

The IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship began yesterday at Rogers Place in Edmonton.

Team Canada is set to play their first game Wednesday (Aug. 10) against Latvia. Puck drop is at 4 p.m.

This year's roster includes Fort Saskatchewan's Olen Zellweger and former Fort Ranger Sebastian Cossa.  

Team Canada is in Group A for the tournament, and the rest of their games are as follows:

  • Aug. 11 at 4 p.m. - Slovakia vs Canada
  • Aug. 13 at 4 p.m. - Czechia vs Canada
  • Aug. 15 at 4 p.m. - Finland vs Canada

All of these games will be played at Rogers Place. 

If team Canada advances into the next round, those games would be:

  • Quarterfinal - Aug. 17
  • Semi Final - Aug. 19 
  • Medal game - Aug. 20
