Fort Saskatchewan Rangers Hockey alumni Sebastian Cossa has made a donation to Hockey Gives Blood, an extension of Canadian Blood Services.

Hockey Gives Blood was formed in 2018 when former players wanted to contribute to the hockey community, especially following the Humboldt Broncos bus tragedy.

On July 30, Sebastian Cossa posted on social media that he was donating $3,723 to the non-profit charity with the assistance of Edmonton medical professionals that helped him raise funds.

“[He] has been helping us in multiple different areas as a player ambassador force for the past few seasons either by donating blood, joining the stem cell registry and using his platform in a positive way,” said Stu Middleton, the president and co-founder of Hockey Gives Blood.

According to Middleton, Cossa, who's currently playing goal for Team Canada at the 2022 World Junior Hockey Championship, has been a part of Hockey Gives Blood since 2020.

Since he is a goalie, he uses the ‘Every Save Counts’ campaign, where money is donated for every save he makes throughout the regular season.

“Players using their specific skill set or position they play there is a fundraising initiative sometimes associated with their position.”
