Police have charged a 29-year-old Sherwood Park man after a fatal crash on Sunday.

A 29-year-old is facing charges after two people on a motorcycle died in Strathcona County. 

Police say they responded to a collision on Highway 628 between Range Road 231 and 232 on Sunday (Aug. 14) at noon. 

"Preliminary investigation indicates a vehicle and motorcycle collided head-on while travelling on Highway 628," the Strathcona County RCMP said in a release. 

The two people on the motorcycle, a 68-year-old man and 63-year-old woman, both from Edmonton, were pronounced dead at the scene. 

Sherwood Park resident Taylor Yaremchuk has been charged with:

  • Two counts of impaired operation causing death
  • Impaired driving
  • Possession of an illegal substance

Yaremchuk is in custody and scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on Tuesday.

Police are asking that anyone who was in this area between 11:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., who witnessed this collision or may have dash cam video, to please contact the Strathcona County RCMP.
