Cochrane Food Fest took place this past weekend, and after the success of the event, the organizers and Cochranites gave back by presenting a $350 cheque to the Cochrane Activettes who run the local Food Bank as a donation.
The donation comes from extra tickets from Food Fest that Cochranites were generous enough to donate to the Food Bank. As well, a portion of the proceeds from the event went into the donation.
Food Fest organizer with Quirk Social Kailey Mitchell says that it was a no brainer to give back to the Cochrane Activettes Food Bank
"The Cochrane Activettes Food Bank is an integral piece in providing food security to many families in the Cochrane community, namely those struggling with financial hardships & especially with the way the economy is right now. Cochrane boasts that sense of true community where you can count on others for help when you need it most, and attendees at Cochrane Food Fest were eager to donate leftover tickets (and cash!) to the Food Bank. Investing back into the community continues to be a key part of the Quirk Social business model."
Co-chair of the Cochrane Activettes Charlene Jeffrey says that the donation is greatly appreciated especially in the times we are currently living in.
"Especially right now with our current economic situation, this is huge. We appreciate everything that people donate and especially businesses and you know, people that put these kinds of events on, we're just really grateful and it'll help so many of our families in our community."
If you want to donate to the Cochrane Food bank you can donate online, or drop off non perishables at the food bank or grocery stores located within Cochrane.
