The numbers have been tallied from the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP and Municipal Enforcement Services’ back-to-school supply drive.
On Monday (Aug. 15), members from the detachment were outside the Staples in Fort Saskatchewan collecting school supplies ahead of the upcoming school year.
Community peace officer Dillian Carnegie suggested the school supply drive after learning teachers spend their own money on supplies to ensure all students are well prepared for school.
In addition to hundreds of papers, pencils, markers, and ruler donations, police received $214 in cash donations that were used to buy even more supplies.
Municipal Enforcement Services and Fort Saskatchewan RCMP will be donating the following to schools in Fort Saskatchewan:
- 72 packs of paper
- 24 boxes of Kleenex
- Ten pencil cases
- 33 pairs of scissors
- 63 erasers
- 570 pens
- 40 packs of pencil crayons
- 30 pencil sharpeners
- Eight bottles of glue
- 15 glue sticks
- 12 rulers
- 11 packs of markers
- 27 packs of crayons
- 12 packs of highlighters
- 53 packs of pencils
- 12 binders
- 137 duo-tangs
- 62 notebooks
- Three geometry sets
- 12 calculators
If you’re still looking to help those in need ahead of the school year, the Fort Saskatchewan Multicultural Association is holding a donation drive and hopes to “fill a vehicle” with school supplies. Donations can be dropped off at Straightline Chrysler (11116 88 Ave) now until Aug. 21.
