Tamara Dabels is leaving the Fort Saskatchewan & District Chamber of Commerce.

For the last five years, the chamber’s executive director has helped Fort Saskatchewan’s business community adapt, and navigate various regional changes and challenges.

Dabels will move on at the end of this month -- she accepted a position as branch manager of ATB Financial in Lamont.

“I've been getting to know [Lamont] over the last six months as we’ve gone through this amalgamation, and they’re just full of wonderful people, and so I look forward to serving them in a different way,” she said.

During her time with the chamber, Dabels oversaw the merger between the Fort Saskatchewan and Lamont Chamber of Commerce. She spearheaded the FORTitude Forum, geared towards women looking to improve their careers, business, and leadership skills and find networking opportunities.

Dabels also navigated her team through the COVID-19 pandemic and learned to service the business community in a virtual format.

“Helping the business community through that and working remotely, from a staffing perspective, was a whole new experience I’ve never had before.”

The Fort Saskatchewan Farmers' Market and the Chamber Business Awards will always hold a special place in her heart, she continued. However, she’s looking forward to her new role in Lamont, adding the town has a “remarkable,” vibrant community.
