A curfew check led to a drug bust in Sherwood Park.

On Aug. 6 at around 1:34 a.m., police visited a home near Township Road 515 and Range Road 232 in Sherwood Park to conduct a curfew check on Craig Coffey. 

According to police, Coffey was not home at the time and was breaching curfew conditions related to previous stolen property charges from June.

A short while later, police noticed Coffey return home on a motorcycle and arrested him. A search of the motorcycle turned up three litres of gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB), 754.8 grams of methamphetamine, 71.2 grams of cocaine and 20 oxycodone pills.

Later that day, police came back to the home with a search warrant where they located and seized what is believed to be 266.5 grams of fentanyl, three litres of GHB, 26 pouches of resin, a stolen 2013 Lincoln MKX, and a taser.

The Forty-six-year-old from Sherwood Park has been charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x3)
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Obstruction
  • Fail to comply (x2)

Coffey has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on Aug. 24.
