The pile of debris is starting to create some capacity issues at the Rosenort Landfill
Categories

To date, 40 million kgs of debris left behind by the spring flood has been cleaned up in the R.M. of Morris and dropped at the Rosenort Landfill, according to Reeve Ralph Groening.

"As a matter of fact, we are running into capacity issues because of that," he added.

Groening noted, the clean up has proven to be a huge task, and crews continue to work.

"We were hopeful to complete it by the end of this year but of course, realisticly we knew that wouldn't happen. Next year the work will continue."

Meantime, Council and administration continue to wait for engineering reports to come back on 16 sites damaged during the flood. In particular, noted Groening, is the pending report for the bridge on Riverside Road.

"It is a very important road to us. We've really struggled to maintain it, and we do absolutely need to know the conditon of that road so we can begin work on repairs or, worsed-case if there's enough damage, to close it. We want our residents, our farmers, our people to be safe. We need that report."
