Brooke Forslund came home with gold in the Western Canada Baseball Championship.

Forslund has played for the Sherwood Park Athletics for six years before she got a spot on the girls 14U Team Alberta. Her position on the team included third base, pitcher, and catcher.

For many of the girls, including Forslund, it was their first time in Winnipeg.

"It was a cool experience. I'd never been to a city like Winnipeg before," said Forslund.

There were four teams in total; Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and British Columbia.

Alberta's first game was against British Columbia in a round robin where they won 14-0 before beating Saskatchewan 10-4. In the next game against Manitoba, Alberta won by a score of 16-6, advancing to the finals.

Alberta topped Saskatchewan 17-5 in the final.

Forslund told MIX 107 it was truly a golden moment.

"I think going there and having that experience and being able to have the opportunity to go was pretty cool."

Forslund was born and raised in Sherwood Park -- her love for baseball started after watching her older brother play.

With school starting soon, Forslund will be spending the near future back in class and playing for the Sherwood Park Athletics. In her spare time, she also enjoys playing other sports and video games.
