With the new Niverville Community Resource and Recreation Centre now just over a year old, the 9,200 square metre multi-use state-of-the-art facility is working out the kinks of its newest addition, a new online registration program.
Warren Britton, Niverville Rec Manager, says the centre has many new programs running this fall. “My programmers have been working super hard, making sure that we've got a really full schedule between sports, art, cooking classes and Lego fun, just to name a few. Really a little bit of everything.”
The participants who want to sign up for these classes will be using the Rec Centre’s new software program. Britton explains, “So, we've switched over the software that's really designed to do what we need it to do. From managing the memberships to handling all the programming registrations, as well as camp registrations. Everything should be a much more streamlined approach. A lot more user-friendly than what we've had in the past.”
Britton says they’ve been working on it for a couple of months now. “Since late May or early June. It's very intuitive. Perfect Mind has been a great solution for us. We're just kind of working out the last few pieces right now.”
He says right now they’ve sent out information to their members as well as individuals who subscribe to their newsletter. Britton says, “They can log in and kind of check to see what's available when it comes to Fall programming at the centre. But that’s really all they can do right now because the piece we're still missing is the ability to pay for the class, which we are finalizing testing with Perfect Mind as we speak. So, once we get the green light from them, we will set a time and the program will go Live.”
Britton tells us about the advantages of the software, “People can look and see all the programs being offered and what times and everything on the new program. Another nice thing with this software is that users will have individual calendars. So, everyone in your household can look at their own calendar by day or week. So, it'll give a pretty good indication of all the programs your family members are in and what days of the week you're going to be at the CRRC or other facilities and what day, so you can kind of plan the rest of your life.”
While waiting for the ‘green light’, Britton says, anyone wanting to register for programming at the Centre should create their accounts. “For you and all your family members. That way you can kind of browse at your leisure. Find out what it is that you'd like to do. You can also check out our Fall Leisure Guide which is posted on whereyoubelong.ca.”
Why be proactive? Britton says, “I have a feeling once registration goes Live things are going to fill up pretty quick.”
He continues, in the new online registration program you’ll be able to see whether the class you want to register for is full or how many spots are still available. “So, if you have two kids that are interested in being in the same class, it'll actually show you that there's only one spot left, if that's the case. But now just keeping in mind, hockey and speed skating, those are separate things. We have our own house league here in town that we run, but most of our hockey is run through Clipper Ice Sports, so they would have their own registration software as well.”
As to who can register for programs at the Niverville Rec Centre, Britton says “Anyone”.
“You don’t need to be a resident of Niverville. We have a wide variety of people that come through the doors, both residents and non-residents. If they are looking to purchase a membership or a day pass to use the walking track or the playground or public skating. So, the prices are a little different if you're a resident or non-resident, but we welcome everybody that wants to come out.”
For individuals that have questions about the online registration process, Britton encourages them to call the centre anytime between 8am and 10pm. “We're more than willing to help out with any major issues.” And for those people who don’t have computer access he says, their staff at the CRRC will be able to help you register in person.
