Two killed in Sherwood Park collision

Two people died in a Strathcona County collision.

RCMP responded to a fatal collision on Highway 16 near Range Road 223 in Sherwood Park at 11:38 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 30) night. 

An early investigation found that a Ford Focus was travelling in the wrong direction before colliding with a BMW. 

The 72-year-old driver of the Focus and a 66-year-old backseat passenger in the BMW was pronounced dead on the scene. The two other occupants of the BMW were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

The identities of the deceased have not been made public.
