Repairs on the Highway 15 pedestrian bridge in Fort Saskatchewan will start on Tuesday (Sept. 6).

The bridge has been closed since a vehicle carrying a large load hit the structure on July 21, causing damage.

The City of Fort Saskatchewan says only one lane will be open heading northbound while construction takes place.

Weather permitting, the bridge will reopen in four to six weeks.

During the school year, Rudolph Hennig Junior High School students use the walkway as a main route to and from the school.
