Fort Saskatchewan native, Kirby Dach has signed a four-year deal with the Montreal Canadiens.
The deal is worth a total of $13.45 million and carries an annual cap hit of $3.3625 million.
The former Fort Sask Ranger was a restricted free agent this summer, coming off a three-year entry-level contract that paid him $925,000 per year.
He was traded to the Canadiens at the NHL entry draft in July.
Dach was drafted third overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2019 draft. However, a relentless bout of injuries limited his time in the NHL. Through three seasons he has played 152 games in the league, putting up 59 points in the process.
The 21-year-old centerman joins a young Canadiens team still looking to craft out an identity for themselves. He is expected to play a big role with the historic franchise.
