A popular local Halloween attraction is returning.

Howlleen Manor (8413 99 Avenue) will open to the public from Oct. 28 to 31.

Trina Lawrence's husband, Don, started Howlleen Manor in their yard fifteen years ago. The family moved to Fort Saskatchewan in 2004 from the west end of Edmonton where they also used to do a haunt in Callingwood.

The tour involves actors, moving props, and an ever-changing layout.

The manor is open:

  • From 6:30 to 10 p.m. on Oct. 28 and Oct. 29.
  • From 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 30 is kid's day. Kids can experience the haunt in daylight without the added actors, jump scares, or moving props.
  • On Halloween from 6:30 to 10 p.m.

Since starting Howlleen Manor, the haunted house has become something of a must-see seasonal landmark. Because of its popularity, there can be quite the wait for tours.

"Fridays and Saturdays are usually quiet nights. So if you don't want to stand in a long lineup, come in on [the weekend]," Trina said.

Admission is free with a donation to the Fort Saskatchewan Food Bank every day except Halloween, where they charge five dollars with proceeds being donated to the food bank.

The Lawrence family has already begun their setup. Trina says that they always appreciate a helping hand.

"We always ask for volunteers. Especially for tear down and set up. Tear down goes so much easier, but setting up takes a long time."
