Two drivers on an area highway were pulled over for excessive speeding.

At around 5 a.m. on Sept. 9, a Fort Saskatchewan RCMP officer was monitoring Highway 15 at the Old Fort Trail when they clocked a driver travelling at 164 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone. Ten days later, at the same time and location, a different driver was clocked going 161 km/hr.

According to police, both drivers were charged under the Traffic Safety Act and a required to appear in court next month.

Fort Saskatchewan RCMP wanted to remind drivers of the importance of abiding by the speed limit. Driving faster than the speed limit gives the driver less time to react, which can lead to fatal collisions.
