WW2 plane stole the show at local fundraiser as part of Goose Fest celebrations.
Kindersley's Lloyd Sparky Ament 365 Air Cadets hosted a pancake breakfast on the Sunday of Goose Fest. Pancakes, sausage, coffee and a drink were ready at 9am and people were filing in. As the morning dragged on in typical Sunday fashion more people arrived, but what was interesting is that no one left. Fascinated by the sights and sounds of airplanes taking off and landing, the crowd continued to grow.
A group of teens filed out of a white and red Cessna with smiles as wide as the sky. We asked the pilot if he was giving rides today. "Just to the air cadets," said Captain Monte Sheppard. He mentioned that he'd been up with a group once already, and before noon he had gone 2 or 3 more times. We talked to one of the parents who said that he's giving kids a thrill of their life. "My son came out last night to help set up tables and chairs. When he got home, I asked him how it went. 'We got to ride in a plane Mom!' was all he could say."
Sheppard proceeded to tell me about how pilots are always looking for an excuse to fly. They certainly found one today. He said they put a notice about the event in a bulletin with COPA - Canadian Owner & Pilots Association. It was on the Facebook page, and it was on the Goose Fest poster. But it doesn't need a new hook or a shiny sign, the best thing this event has going for it is tradition. It's a Sunday tradition as part of the annual Kindersley Goose Festival.
One pilot was overheard saying "I was here 40 years ago. I'm sure glad somethings never miss." As sure as the sun sets in the west, there will be a pancake breakfast at the Airport on the Sunday of Goose Fest. And if we have more days like today, this is one event that is sure to grow.

Looks like fun! Many flew in for breakfast, but also quite a few airplane enthusiasts drove to the Airport just North of town. Everyone brought an appetite.
