A popular fall attraction is set to resume operations.
After being ordered to shut down in August due to a levy of safety concerns, Prairie Gardens and Adventure Farm has gotten approval from Sturgeon County to open up its doors to the public.
This comes after the farm submitted the required technical information and committed to various safety conditions this past Friday (Sept. 23).
Prairie Gardens can now continue their agricultural duties such as greenhouse, u-pick and market gardens as well as welcome back the public to participate in attractions such as their corn maze and hay rides.
In adherence to the new agreement with the county the farm will do the following for the rest of the 2022 season:
- Make safety improvements that align with Alberta Transportation guidelines to ensure the safe movement of vehicles to and within its sites, maneuvering of vehicle types, traffic movements, traffic volumes, and vehicle speeds.
- Make safety improvements for parking and property access and impose restrictions on pedestrian movement between its two sites.
- Adopt revised operating hours between 8 a.m. and 9:30 p.m.
Sturgeon County plans on working with Prairie Gardens on ensuring the farm adheres to land use and safety requirements in time for the 2023 season.
