The scene has been cleared.
Earlier on Wednesday morning, traffic travelling southbound on the QEII highway slowed to a crawl after an animal was hit between Airdrie and the Commercial Vehicle Inspection Station.
RCMP was on the scene, though no other emergency crews were present at the time. One car was observed to be in the left-hand shoulder lane.
Drivers were asked to exercise caution.
