The Nighthawks powered their way to a 5-2 victory over the Steelers Thursday night.
Gavin Gunderson led the way for Niverville with a four-point game including a hat trick and an assist.
Brendan Bottem contributed with a goal and an assist, while Josh Paulus added to his totals with two helpers.
Captain Brett Tataryn also found the back of the net during a three-goal outburst by Niverville in the second period. The score was 5-2 after two periods and that’s how the game ended after no scoring in the third.
Niverville goalie, Ethan Kadatz made key saves throughout the game, especially on the penalty kill which paved the way to a solid road victory. Kadatz finished with 36 saves on 38 shots on goal.
Niverville tallied 37 shots of their own and moved the puck well during the contest. The Nighthawks earn their second win and improve to a 2-4 record while the Steelers are still looking for their first win on the year. Selkirk is 0-3-1-1 so far this season.
The Nighthawks are back in action next Friday night against the Winnipeg Freeze in Niverville for a 7:30 pm start.
