A pair of Edmonton brothers are bringing some colour to downtown Fort Saskatchewan.

Earlier this month, work began on a large mural painted on the side of Twice but Nice, a thrift store on 102 Street. The project was created by Flying Colors Murals, a painting company by the Thomas brothers, Dave and Allan.

The brothers got in touch with The City of Fort Saskatchewan after the city had a call out to artists in August. After sending the city their portfolio and references, they were shortlisted.

After a few brainstorming sessions, the brothers got their inspiration from the flowers growing at Legacy Park.

"I just went by and snapped a few photos, not many, and then I went to the river valley and took a whole pile of pictures," said Dave. "When I got home and looked at everything, it was the Legacy Park pictures that I liked the best."

The brothers used their experience in fine art to add detail to their murals, which helps to give off a more vibrant experience.

Residents may recognize more of the brother's work around town. They also painted murals outside of the Jubilee Recreation Center.

Another artist will be working on a mural in Fort Saskatchewan soon, right behind City Donair on 100 Avenue.
