The Dach brothers continue to make Fort Saskatchewan proud.

The Kelowna Rockets of the WHL announced on Tuesday (Oct. 11) that Fort Saskatchewan native Colton Dach will serve as their captain for the 2022-23 season.

The announcement comes after a hectic start to Dach's season. He attended an NHL rookie camp for the Chicago Blackhawks last month and suffered a concussion that caused him to miss the majority of training camp. He was able to appear in just one NHL preseason game.

The Blackhawks assigned him back to juniors last Friday.

Dach is coming off a red-hot season with the Rockets. In 61 games with the club last year, he put up 29 goals and 79 points, which lead the team.

The hope is that he can take on a leadership role in Kelowna that will help him eventually make the jump to the NHL.

“I think first and foremost it’s to come in here and be a leader for the guys," said Dach. "I want to continue to work on my work ethic and develop so I can take that jump next year to the NHL.”

Last night, in his first game wearing the 'C' for the Rockets, Dach netted the overtime winner against the Victoria Royals.

Dach joins an illustrious list of Rockets captains including NHLers Tyson Barrie and Josh Gorges.
