The Swift Current Broncos announced today that they have acquired 2003-born defenceman Adam McNutt from the Regina Pats in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.
McNutt, from Saskatoon, was originally drafted 68th overall by the Prince Albert Raiders in the 2018 WHL Prospects Draft and has appeared in 77 career games to date, recording nine points (3-6-9). He has also racked up 124 career penalty minutes.
“Adam is a player that we believe will add stability and toughness to our back end,” said Broncos general manager Chad Leslie. “We’re looking for him to come in and be a physical presence for us, as well as being a leadership figure within the locker room.”
The 6’1’’, 203-pound McNutt is expected to be in the Broncos lineup when his former team visits the InnovationPlex on Friday night.
In a separate transaction, the Broncos have reassigned 2005-born defenceman Liam Saxberg to the Selkirk Steelers of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. Drafted 60th overall in 2020, Saxberg appeared in four games with the Broncos this season.
