Pat Porter Active Living Centre is having their first ever open-house tomorrow, October 19th, from 9AM-9PM.

Audrey Harder, executive director at the Pat Porter Active Living Centre, says all of their programs will be running tomorrow, so you can check out everything they have to offer.

“You got pickleball, floor curling, music, coffee, cards, games, choir. We have everything going, and you can join all of them for free.”

Tomorrow is also a good opportunity to get a new membership for next year because if you sign up before January 15th it is $25 per person instead of $30. The membership lasts a whole year.

“You get that little extra bonus if you buy it early, so we're hoping that people will come check it out and see who we all are and meet us and find out what we are doing.”

She also notes that people often believe PPALC is a 55+, but she clarifies that everyone is welcome to come and sign-up regardless of age.

“Our youngest member is I think seven or eight. They come roller skating on Sundays. And our oldest member I think is 97. So, yeah, we're fine with any age.“

Harder says PPALC is all about getting and staying healthy.

“We're all about healthy aging, and healthy aging starts from the moment you're born because you age from day one.”

She says being healthy doesn’t just require physical activity, but it has a lot to do with taking care of your mental health.

PPALC is a great place for both fitness and socializing.

“Just sitting with people and talking and laughing and sharing stories, physical health comes along with that,” she says. “You know, people play pickleball and they're very physical when they play it and then they sit down and have coffee after for a while. So it's all of it put together. It's whatever you need in life.”
