Sherwood Park product, Kaiden Guhle, can now say he has scored a goal in the NHL.

The Montreal Canadiens defender scored his first career NHL goal in the third period of a game against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night.

The goal was a thing of beauty as Guhle blasted home a one-timer passed, Sabres goaltender, Eric Comrie, to give Montreal a 2-1 lead. Fellow Canadiens defender, David Savard, got an assist on the play.

The Canadiens eventually won the game by a score of 3-2.

"I kind of went blank," Guhle told reporters after the game. "It was awesome to get the first one...it was a big play, and it was awesome to help the team win."

"An awesome experience for sure."

Guhle has been a defensive workhorse for the Canadiens this season. Through eight games in his rookie season, he is third on the team in ice time averaging over 16 minutes per game.

The goal gives Guhle three points so far this season, adding to his two assists.
