Happy Halloween!

What else is there to do in the community besides trick-or-treating and costume parties on Halloween night?

Here are six things that are sure to help you embrace the spookiest night of the year.

1. Haunted House (8217 98th Ave, Fort Saskatchewan)

This simply named Haunted House is open from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The tour features only animatronics -- no costumed actors. Admission is free but they do accept food bank donations.

2. Howlleen Manor (8413 99th Ave, Fort Saskatchewan)

The Lawrence family has been doing Howlleen Manor for fifteen years now. Tonight, the manor is open from 6:30 to 10 p.m. and features actors, moving props, and a different layout from years before. Admission is five dollars with proceeds going to the food bank.

3. Online Photo Contest (Redwater)

Whether it's a decorated pumpkin or a pet costume, the town of Redwater is looking for photos that show off your Halloween spirit. All photos are entered for a draw with a mysterious prize. Today is the last day for entries. You can visit their website for more information.

4. Haunted Hall (60 1st Ave, Ardrossan)

Created by Ardrossan Junior Senior High, this event transforms Ardrossan Memorial Hall into a haunted house with a haunted fairy tale theme. The hall is open from 6 to 10 p.m. with free admission, though they do accept donations.

5. Lakeland Haunted House (1212 Lake Vista Crescent, Sherwood Park)

Tonight is the final night for the Lakeland Haunted House. It features a backyard full of spooky props and animatronic scares, admission is free although donations for Strathcona County Food Bank and Alberta's Lost Pet and Rescue are accepted. They're open from 5 to 9 p.m.

6.  Stay in and enjoy your own haunted house!

Whether you work in the evening, or you've fallen sick, you can still get right into the Halloween spirit. Pick up some candy, watch a scary (or not-so-scary) movie, and dress up in your favourite costume to enjoy this spooky holiday.
