Although the new Highway 15 bridge finished construction back in early October, some speed limits haven't been changed.

For those going across the bridge and into Fort Saskatchewan, the speed limit reads 70 km/hr, while leaving the city it is 50 km/hr.

Kevin Lee, the ministerial assistant with Alberta's minister of transportation, says the slower speed limit is for traffic control.

"There's a gap in the guardrail and trucks entering and exiting without deceleration lanes," Lee said. "I can tell you once the contractor is done in the area the gap in the guardrail will be closed and the speed zone restriction will be removed."

Lee said that the speed limit is expected to return to 70 km/hr at some point in the next two weeks.
