The ninth annual Community Christmas event will be taking place at the North Central Co-op food store on Tuesday (Nov. 29) in Fort Saskatchewan.

The MIX 107 team will be at the store from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. chatting with listeners and helping to raise donations for the Fort Saskatchewan Food Bank.

"Community Christmas is a terrific initiative with the radio station and Co-op," said Kassandra Gartner, the executive director at the food bank. "Our volunteers are in store and there is a lot of spreading the word about what the food bank does and our Christmas campaign."

"It's just a really fun event where we see a lot of donations come in."

People who decide to check out the event can donate food and toys for the food bank's Christmas hampers.

There will be option to purchase a Good Buy to Hunger bag to help support the food bank. Co-op will also donate $1 to the organization for every bag purchased until Tuesday.

"It is a really important community event that supports what we do," said Gartner.
